Practice can be considered as of two kinds- abhyasa and sadhana.

More generic is abhyasa, as in a general practice of making conscious

choices (instead of simply reacting), or to base our actions

in sustaining tranquility and peace of mind.

 

Sadhana is more specific, as in the direct techniques used- such as ujjayi breathing or a certain style of asana practice, as well as any specific ethical principles we might follow, such as embodying any of the niyamas (observances) as described in the Yoga Sutras, or any other teaching.
